Got them in 2 days like you, Burnet Saxifrage, Bladder Campion (white) hedge woundwort, yarrow (white) tufted vetch, cow parsley, AND my wildflower turf is coming Friday, whoooohooo, I have some seed if you want to try some, I sowed in April, hardly any germination, but am happy to send you some, if you want to have a go.  Got 2 Rugosas to go on the edge of the meadow.

You are going to be busy!

Thanks for the seed offer but I think I have enough plants for now.

All the plant plugs I planted a week ago are still doing well.Keeping them well watered in this hot weather.Off to do that now image

Yellow rattle is good for putting into lawns as it's one of the few wild flowers that will happily out perform grass and gradually take over. Sow in autumn

Madpeguin, my daughter has posted pics on garden design, work in progress, today, asked for by gardengirl, of the wildflower bit, we were sooooh lucky, laid the mat on Friday and it rained yesterday, it has grown amazingly in just 2 days, got the lawn daisies, yarrow, and clover up, just now need to keep it watered.

    That's brilliant.

All mine are still dong well.My Mum has some Prunella vulgaris in her lawn so I will be arriving there with a knife and bucket for plugs!

I have been looking at all the lawns in my area and I am quite surprised at how many have a variety of plant species. Most I think are that way from sheer neglect.Must take some pics to post on here.

Have been out tending to my lawn this morning.

All the plants are doing well, still watering them as the weather is hot and dry but once established should be OK on their own.

Been removing a few dandelions as I don't want those.

Gone over the whole lawn with hand shears to keep it tidy, once established I can use the mower.Leaving the clippings on the surface.

Seems a lot of work at the moment but next year it should be easier!

I have been calling it a 'mini meadow' but I think a better name would be a 'mini grazed meadow' as that is the sort of effect I am trying for, with plants that are used to being grazed by cattle, deer, rabbits etc.

    Hello madpenguin

Please can I ask you a question,  I've just found this thread and have enjoyed reading what you're doing to your lawn as I have decided to add some Daisy plants to my lawn after seeing a lawn full of them, they looked lovely.

I bought some seeds like you did and I sowed half the packet and they have germinated well. I sowed them in a plug like seed tray with 20 squares. Do you think I should plant the whole plug containing many seedlings straight into the lawn or would it be better if I pricked them out maybe into smaller groups into the next size pots and grow on a bit, what did you do with your seeds?
