I have been accused a few times of being an artist, but I suspect it was probably a different sort of artist.
When I was a younger man, I went out with a girl who was a silversmith, since then I have always had a slightly different outlook on fashion and art, than many of my contemporaries.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
WhenI posted before it was, as you will have doubtless realised, rather tongue in cheek. But - and you just couldn't make this up - the Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art has an exhibition that "questions the value and function of cultural institutions" (no - me neither)
It is - a room with nothing in it. The artist is displaying an empty room in a show entitled "This Exhibiton Has Been Cancelled". Visitors wander through the empty space, doubtless imagining their own artistic displays/projects.
Apparently, this exhibition removes what would traditionally be considered an art object. Instead, they are presenting the gallery as an empty apace, "giving us a moment to question the value in turning over exhibition after exhibition after exhibition".
Today Glasgow. Tomorrow (well, next year) Chelsea?
Tongue still firmly in cheek - but falling about laughing!
So true Dove - and I'm one of the "don't". It took me ages to get over Tracy Emin's bed as art. Oh, well - perhaps I'm just an unreconstructed fuddy duddy! (and you heard it here first, folks )
Pretentious rubbish, so many artists seeking inspiration from the dying roman hordes or Picasso running through a cornfield whilst humming to ernie the fastest milkman in the west, total crap
