So it's not just me, then! "Best in Show" - hmmmmm. A touch of the emperor's new clothes, methinks. Rather like some very modern art. Or music. The cognoscenti extol the virtues. Lesser mortals scratch their heads and gravitate to more pleasing arrangements, with more ideas that can usefully be copied/adapted.
PS perhaps we will one day have a horticultural equivalent of John Cage - he of the 4'33" "music" of silence. And all of the above will wonder that no-one ever thought of it before. I'm up for giving it a go! All I need is a sponsor with more money than sense, maybe.
Couldn't have put it better myself. I suppose the gardening equivalent would be completely bare, flat land so we could visualise our own perfect garden. Bound to win Best in Show! I bet Joe Swift loved it!!!
As it's my first year of proper gardening i decided to watch some of Chelsea on the beeb and am not sure what to make of it to be honest. Loved the Japanese garden by Ishihara Kazuyuki and am really interested in trying to include some moss in my garden. A lot of the show gardens are very underwhelming though. Glad i record the 8pm programme so i can skip through bits.
Still looking forward to going to Chatsworth show!

But you'd have to get bare soil with no weeds and that only happens in Monty' s garden.
Maybe I would break the boundaries and have one statement weed - a thistle to represent G sharp?

Looked at some stills. Where are the flowers?
The Chelsea concrete, steel and glass show more like.
I thought Worzel Don's fawning over Roy Lancaster last night was almost vomit inducing.
I expected him to get down and kiss his feet.
debs 64, I hope you don't mind, but I've just copied and pasted your comment and sent to my friends who have the Primula nursery you like. Thanks.
