Plant I.D.
Hello everyone,
We've just moved from a flat to a house with a garden and I have no gardening knowledge.
Can anyone help identify this plant? It has atleast tripled in size over 2 months and is full of all different types of bees. It has a very strong smell which isn't the most pleasant.
I was told by a gardener it was a weigela originally but now am being told it isn't and I don't even know where to start looking online to identify it myself.
Thanks to anyone who can help.

It might be too big. Try reducung the size.
Thank you, trying to use my tablet so couldn't find the option to resize. All done now.
Just googled four petalled white shrub under images and got this that looks remarkably like it????
"Clematis, Virginia Bower Vine, Clematis virginiana, a perennial climbing vine with fragrent flowers native to eastern North America "
It is a shrub..Cornus alba.

Sadly very different from the Clematis virginiana...a climber with leaves in 3's!

Thank you both so much for answering. I will have a good read about both of the suggestion as both do look like possibilities.
Love that it seems to attract lots of bees but need to find out what to do with it so it doesn't take over the whole garden. I took this picture 2 months ago tomorrow and it's rapid growth has been a bit of a shock.
The rapid growth is really just because the season's getting underway and everything is making hay while the sun shines!
The difficulty with trying to ID plants of any kind is that you need a view of the whole thing - a close up of just the flowers, for example, can often be a bit misleading. Try looking at some images of both plants - the whole thing - and you'll be able to see the difference in the growth habit
Don't worry about it too much either, Tailz - you'll be able to prune it back to a manageable size. If you need help with that, it's no problem. Plenty of people will assist . We might not actually bring the secateurs though....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Tailz127.
Let me try putting it another way.....It is not a Clematis!
It is definitely Cornus alba.
Later in the year you will get white berries.
Which Cornus Alba? there are no signs of red stalks from the winter picture, or doesnt that type of Cornus have red stems.
I'd go with the Clematis as well.
