Maybe we're talking sticky Willy. Seems a bad year for it this year. Never seen much if  before.

    In London. Keen but lazy.

Sticky Willy sounds like a nasty complaint.

Not really an improvement but at least we have a botanical name now.

Yes M-U. I knew it was Burdock that was the inspiration for Velcro. Clever thing Nature! We still haven't heard which one Melissa has been posting about.

  • Haha sorry, that's my inner child coming out!!

I think it's Goosegrass or cleavers, they are sticky and have little the little bobbles on that attach themselves to my dogs coat! They really are annoying and seem to be returning to one border no matter what I try. Hoping someone has a solution!

    Thanks

I think we roughly guessed that was the one you were talking about Melissa and you are not on your own having this pest. All I do is pull it out when I see it, but have you noticed how some of these pests can carefully disguise themselves as more wanted plants? Persistence is the answer. image

Stcky willy image These are taking over my garden this year. I pulled some out and within a few days they were back. I think i'll just leave them. They grow through all the plants i want to and stick to them so very hard to remove,

  • Before you eradicate this herb from your garden, have a look at it's medicinal properties and see if it can be of any use to you. It can be used fresh in one pot meals like stews or it can be chopped up to make a green tea that is very good for all sorts of reasons. I have harvested it this year and dried lots of it to store for winter use. I only found out about it because my dog was grazing on it and I checked to make sure it was safe for him.
