Wormeries

My old one has broken during some building works at my house so I wonder what reputable ones are out there. The one I had was really cheap and worked so so.

I have one of these https://www.wormery.co.uk/wormeries/the-tiger-wormery.html that I bought on eBay for less than £10 4 years ago.

Im not sure of the make of it (I will look tomorrow). Upto now it has worked well and I am happy with the quality.

That's the one I've been thinking of. How many trays do you have?

I have 5 trays. It does get very hot if it has any sun on it so mine is in full shade.

Wow. I thought 3-4 was enough

3 or 4 will be enough. I have never used all 5 as I end up using the compost befor I get that far. This is the only one that I have ever owned so I can't really comment on how good it is when compared to the others. But I find it easy to use, reliable and it does the job.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

  • Nooo don't buy that one - buy the wormcity wormery, honestly it's nearly double the capacity.

I have both and although they work exactly the same, the size difference really makes a difference.

Thanks for the heads up. Would you recommend three trays rather than two?

  • Definitely 3 trays, it gives more time for the worms to do their 'stuff' at the lower levels

Finally got a new one. It looks so much better then my old low budget one. Got wormcity four tray one. as soon as it has settled I'll transfer the old colony into the new one. Hopefully all the worms will play nicely with each other.
