As they are alliums. Leeks onions etc. etc. Could they possibly have cross pollinated with something else? There is a huge variety in this group of plants?
The leaves look too 'fleshy' to be sweet corn and definitely not warm enough to be that far advanced in this country. They may develop into something wonderful and new.
I too have the same thing going on. The top of the plant seems to have a bud of some form growing but it seems to have halted and not changed in ages. i have "purple sensation" elsewhere in the garden which have grown up and flowered in less time than these have been around. The species I was sold is "allium gigantium" I think, the tallest bulbs have grown taller than me and I'm 167cm so whatever they are they're definately giants!! Any thoughts??? I'm doubting these will flower as the bulb bit seems to have stopped growing/swelling. I definitely planted large bulbs here and would be very surprised if somehow it's sweetcorn. TIA
I've got some new allium bulbs that are looking exactly like that. A week ago I thought the leaves looked pretty, sort of twisted, but no sign of a flower bud. Now there is a fine pointed bud. Not at all like purple rain or sensation, which are about to flower. They should be interesting at least. I think they were a replacement for something that was out of stock, so I look forward to the result.

Thanks Faywray....I certainly didn't plan to grow sweetcorn in my front garden but looks like it is what I have....
I don't think sweetcorn would be growing so well outside in current UK temperatures - it needs warmer weather than this to make that sort of growth.

I thought of sweetcorn but it seems a bit early,

Morag - Have you seen the post 'Alliums not Flowering' - seems very similar to your problem.

That looks a bit like a nectoscordum bud ...

In the sticks near Peterborough
What smell should it have when scratched? I presume onion?
