I've been singing SR's praises today too. I was given 20 fritillaria meleagris and 10 erythronium revolutum White Beauty bulbs for my birthday in October which are coming up now (had completely forgotten about the dog's tooth violets so very happy!). They have been gradually emerging over the last couple of weeks but I looked today and decided to count them - every single one has come up and looks healthy as anything.
Also bought quite a few plants from both SR and Coblands last year. Have lost a few and haven't been sure why, assumed they just weren't happy where they were or I'd treated them wrong... but it occurred to me today that all the unexplained losses were from Coblands and all the successes were from SR. Could easily be coincidence - both sets looked great on arrival - but it made me wonder.

'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.'
Well I spent yesterday potting up the new plants into 1 litre pots. Much to my pleasant surprise I found all of them had really good root balls - in fact they could have gone in to 1.5l pots. I am hoping that fact will pull them through and they will start to pick up a bit of speed. Fingers crossed. I will however still email the supplier but my missive will be a bit more toned down!

actually... i know what my red sprouts are now. I am pretty sure they're lupins!! They died a terrible death last year as I did get chance to water them..But they're sprouting up nicely this year!!
Glad you seem to be ok with your plants hogweed. It can very disappointing if they don't look as we expect. Hopefully they'll grow away well now - bit of warmth and a bit of wet
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I would rather not as I am still considering whether to give them a phone to air my disappointment.

Fair enough
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
