I have also started dahlias in pots during the weekend. They are now in the mini greenhouse. I am slightly worried if the next cold spell will do some harm but just simply couldn't wait to give them a start.
My collection has expanded from 3 to 13 within 2 years.
such good value, aren't they? I think as long as you keep frost off the shoots they should be fine. As it's a mini greenhouse make sure it's sealed at night and if you know a frost is coming, chuck some fleece over the tops just to be sure. Mine are in a mini greenhouse too
The pink one is called shadow play. It can get quite big and shrub-like ? I don't know Magenta star but googling it it seems similar. Shadow play are paler in colour and the petals a bit rounder.

Robmarston-thanks for the advice. I will remember the fleece.
Your moonfire looks stunning! I also have one. Love it!
What is the pink dahlia in your photo? This year I bought a magenta star. It looks very similar.
