Rather than getting out the chemicals which will badly affect soil micro-organisms, I would advise strimming off all the foliage.  Removing the food factory will starve the bulbs.  If strimming is not an option, use big kitchen scissor or small shears.

It may take a while but eventually they'll all die off.

Slice off the leaves, forget. Next year repeat......
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Has anyone following the “remove leaves and flowers whenever they reappear” approach definitely found they’ve lessened them coming back each year? Logically it should I guess, they just seem so tenacious!

But then I’m worried that digging will just spread teensy bulbules everywhere and make the issue worse.

They’re infesting a bed I want to makeover completely and are definitely not welcome!
