Raising garden

I am wanting to raise my garden by 4feet do I need planning permission?

    I can't answer that, but you're going to need a heck of a lot of soil.

    I'm wanting to take my topsoil off and fill with hardcore and put topsoil back on top.

    What's that going to do to the drainage in the area?  

    Also, beware compromising the damp proof course of your home or other building. 


    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I back onto fields, and the land starts 50 feet away, I want to raise it so it's the same height as my drive and rest of garden

    Why do you want to do that though? It's a huge amount of work and expense. Unless it's a teeny tiny area.

    Easier to terrace it, and create two levels, but even that will be quite a lot of work. 

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    It would be easier to understand and advise if we could see the area you are referring to. Any pictures? image but its a heck of a lot of work unless you have a mini digger!

    It's about half an acre and it floods, will be using a proper digger not a mini as that will take to long

    I had images of you with a spade and a wheelbarrow Scheuee! image we all have very differing gardens so pics help! Nice space you have there
