I'll have to focus my attention on the late spring / early summer flowers in what is soon to become 'my old helenium border'...??.  I've bought several more papaver beauty of livermere, princess Victoria Louise and loads more alliums (all growing strongly in their sunken pots - good tip Verdun ?).  Also geranium elke so early summer is hopefully going to look great.

The soon to become 'my new helenium border' will also get stipa gigantea, tenuissima, and penstemon raven.  I might also leave a verbena in there and depending on how the Briza media seeds get on it might look ok....  time will tell!

Warm here today. I planted some broad beans in pots to go out in a bit. I also did a couple of trays of salad leaves and rocket.  A trip to Lidl resulted in me succumbing to Echinacea, Tricytris, Asclepias and Rudbeckias. Bare roots in a packet, so I potted them up and gave them a good watering.  I saw a comma butterfly sunning itself on the ivy. Lenny the neighbours  bengal cat was having a prowl around, chasing bees and watching frogs.  I feel like Spring has finally got here.

I did have some spicy salad leaves that were overwintering in the greenhouse. I threw them out on to the veg patch. It should surprise the wood pigeons. image

Verdun, yes, new to Elke - have 12 (or is it 9..) 9cm pots to throw in at some point.

Have lots of Astrantia shaggy seedlings growing along nicely and one or two tiny Astrantia 'Roma' - I hope...  I'll make sure I collect lots more 'Hadspen blood' and 'Gill Richardson' seeds this year and try to get sone of those too.

The stipa gigantea is really not going to be in full sun, but I can give it a go anyway.....

I think I'll have to rip out the achillea to make way for all of this lot ??.
