It appears from beside my wildlife pond which is accessible so i'm thinking because of it's size it may well be hungry. It's turned it's nose up at dog food so i'm putting out a regular supply of dry food.Four hedgehogs around the table one night!!
The smallest one hasn't been in the feeding station for a while, although he was caught on camera 4 days ago. There is one adult who has visited the last 2 nights. They do have this habit of disappearing now and again, so l'm assuming that they've either found a better restaurant, or they're finding plenty of natural food due to all the rain we've had. 🦔
I spotted this on my local Facebook page.Unfortunately l can't post a photo, but the product in question is a Gardenline igloo hedgehog house

🦔PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!🦔
This product is going on sale on Thursday 8th October in Aldi stores. These igloo houses have been the cause of injury & quite probably deaths for Hedgehogs, consequently we are calling for their ban. Hedgehog rescues report that Hedgehogs spines get caught up in the inside where they become stuck and literally starve to death or at least suffer construction injuries. They are poorly made and blow over in the wind. They should be removed from the market. If you want to make a good solid hedgehog house which doesnt put your local Hedgehog population at risk visit the Gardeners World website or the BHPS.
Thank you"
Please pass the message on to anyone who you think may consider buying one. Many thanks 🦔
Haven't posted for a while, so here is a catch up. Resident baby has grown well, eating me out of house and home. Then two weeks ago a new smaller baby turned up, now both are staying in the garden, in the same corner, but not sure if in the same house as there is two back there. Tonight a big adult hog turned up, the first adult I've seen in two months, I hope its not looking for a home or one of the babies might get turfed out.
"The Blonde Bombshell" https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-55498803 Also to remind anyone who is interested that any hedgehog out during the day at this time of year is in distress, so if you do see one please take it in and contact either your local rescue or the British Hedgehog Preservation Society who will be able to help. My local rescue has asked for this message to be put out. 🦔 Many thanks.
Real aww factor there, so glad she was taken in. Pretty
Timely new post AnniD.
We have kept a little food in a dish under a crate while the weather is still mild. We have had a couple of frosts so have not expected to see them. But our hogs went awol a month or so ago.
Friday early hours I vaguely heard the dish being rattle. And thought I imagined it. However in the morning some food had been munched and as per usual a hog poop left as a thanks.... And luckily the little water dish near the house was not frozen.
We now have fresh food out just in case. I will be more alert if I hear it again and check it is okay.

My garden hogs seem to be doing ok, but there is only one adult and one baby this year.

I always cut up any plastic that any creature may get caught up in, please spread the word to avoid any unnecessary suffering
Also please check around for any uncovered drains or other places where a hedgehog could become trapped

No wonder they are fast becoming an endangered species!
