Here’s young Tom, a recent addition to the critical care unit. There’s a face in there somewhere! 😁 He’s being fed on puppy moose and gaining weight quite healthily

timmy77 Is puppy mouse better than kitten wet food for baby hedgehogs, I only ask as over the weekend we disturbed a mum and her two babies. We were getting rid of the old patio and there she was, son removed to slab quickly and I quickly covered the area with a big piece of wood and put food and water down. She hasn't left them and every night since we have seen her out with them. I put up a thread on here asking for someone to please please help which of course they did. I want to make sure the little one's as well as mum get plenty to eat. Why she didn't use the nice Hog box I made last year I'll never know.

Last year we took on two newly awake hogs from the local wildlife rescue.
The male was about half the size of the girl and very tame - if we stood quiet in the middle of the lawn he'd come and nibble our ankles. We called him Mr Whiffles because he sounded like an asthmatic!
The female disappeared immediately so we called her Heidi (geddit?)
About this time last year the wife found two dead babies in the bottom border :'(
This year Mr Whiffles is thankfully more 'wild'. The bonking noises have started up again in the last week or so, don't know if that means they've lost a brood already :(
I have had no luck with them controlling slugs, they seem to completely ignore them, which is annoying

Since she is still with them, they should be getting food from mummy and hopefully be ok. I can’t comment on the kitten wet food because I have never used it,  I will ask on Thursday when I’m next on duty. If the babies are handled in any way, the mum is more than likely to either abandon the nest or kill them if they have human scent on them. Paws crossed they grow into a lovely family 🦔🦔🦔

timmy77 We never handled them at all in fact we saw she was there and with in mins I'd covered them with a big sheet of wood. This all happened on Saturday morning and no one has been over there since apart from me to put food and water down for them. I'm going out late so will see if I can get some puppy mouse in one of the pet shops. We saw them out Saturday night and again last night so we know she is still with them. I couldn't hazard a guess as to how old they are but their about 2 to 3 inches in size we think as it was hard to see and I wanted to cover them over quickly.

Son said I've become very protective of them, I have never seen baby hedgehogs before so it's a first for son and myself. They are so cute and if I can help these two through to becoming adults thats to more in the world. They are covered with the piece of wood I bought to make bird houses with but for now she needs it.

Oh bless  You have every right to be protective of them, they need all the help we can give them. I’ll spam you with some baby pics as and when they come in :)

Just an afterthought @NannaBoo Continue putting out normal food for mummy so she can convert this into milk for her young. If she is seen out during the day, don’t worry, leave her be. She is probably having a bit of a break from the young rabble 😂  This time of the year is an exception when they are seen during the day.
