Great advice, have the exact same problem with my grape .Was also advised to remove any stringy loose bark as the aphids like to hide in the crevasses.

  • Wow I didn't realise a grape vine could live so long.  I agree about the plant needing better ventilation, I have 3 growing up a pergola outside (Cheshire).  We haven't had problems with mould but I do agree they need a lot of attention.  Your grapes look so big (excuse the expression)! - 2 year2 ago we must have cut off about 200 little bunches to increase the size of the remainder which still didn't make much difference.  We have now settled for the look and canopy of the leaves which are huge and cover the whole pergula.

  • Thanks Debbie...i agree...if all else fails...rhe green canopy is still lush to look at!

It can be seen that the vine needs airing. Grapevine don't breathe well, so a fungus appeared. It will have to be cleaned. Another look, do not need a garter for better ventilation and sunlight.

Good advice above, as vine is so big you could try a pressure sprayer set on a course setting to "jet" them off, though agree brush would be more thorough. I prefer soft soap to detergent, more natural not so easy to get nowadays though, look on line.
