Cat-poo battle!

  • I had reason to come home early today while it was still light, so I took the opportunity to check how the battle was progressing and I have to say there is a definite improvement! (yay!) I also brought some more gorse home so was able to stock up on the defences! Looks like this could be the answer! Here's hoping!!

  • Massive improvement! Looks like this could be the way to go with this particular problem!

What if you had a cat yourself, it might frighten the others away.

  • Cats are a pain at times, I don't hate them but them doing their business does annoy, I have a  ornamental grass, its a carex I think but I always finding the cat mess right in the middle of it. I wouldn't mind when I go near the seed heads they stick to my skin and Its stings to rip them off so god knows what happens when the cat cleans itself of the seeds.

  • Well Chris789, I can definitely recommend anything 'spikey ' on the ground to deter them, seems to have worked a treat so far! We had considered buying a cat Logan, but decided against adding to the 'prides' of cats that seem to live in our neighbourhood!!

Doesn't work here. Water scarecrow is the only thing that does.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • I had a problem with cats especially with my container plants.  I solved the problem using rose branches.  I didn't (and still don't) have any roses but my sister has a yard full of them.  She was kind enough to give some of her clippings to me.  The trick is to lay them down almost like you're trying to weave a basket.  If you don't do this the cats will figure out how to push them aside.  It took a few tries to get it right, but the problem eventually went away.  I've since moved to an area without a cat problem, so I been spared further cat related gardening grief.
