Cat-poo battle!

Dear folks, I realise that a lot has been written about the battle against cats using our garde as a litter tray, but I thought I would share an idea that might work... you may have already tried it...? I took quite a few cuttings of gorse from a hedge at work (I work for the owner so I had his permission!) and very carefully brought them home. After filling half an empty compost bag with cat poo from around the garden (SO yuck!) I scattered the gorse cuttings in the hope of deterring the cats from returning. I shall report back with progress reports....!

Apologies to any cat owners/lovers, by the way, no offence meant! I also discovered quite a lot of bulbs that had been "buried" by cat activity, so hopefully they will have a chance now!
Oh dear! Day 1 and the problem is still there!
They went to the toilet ON the gorse!! I shall persist, maybe bring in some spikey reinforcements !!!!!
I found holly trimmings helped in my worst affected areas during the winter when the ground was bare. It didn't stop them completely but it certainly put them off using some areas!
Thanks Tooey, I will add holly to my spikey list tomorrow!
I have tried most things but resigned to poop-scoops as part of gardening regime. Holly is quite good but they will just find somewhere else. I spent ages once creating a lattice of sticks and Holly over a newly dug bed... there was a poop on the grass next to it by the next morning!
I am actually considering making a patch FOR a litter tray...
I've got one of those, AuntyRach, under a shrub where nothing much grows. I made sure it was clear of obstructions last summer, and scraped up the (dry) soil so it looked appealing. But next door's cat decided it wouldn't do as a loo, but made an ideal shady spot to lie on a hot day...
Typical cat... everything on their own terms! Maybe I'll decorate my cat-convenience with citrus peel, sharp twigs, Holly, water bottles and cat-repellent pellets - as they seem not to be put off by them anyway!
I brought home spikey reinforcements today! Not seen the garden today so don't know what happened last night! chicken wire will be my backup plan if this doesn't work....
Netting works best over newly-sown or newly-dug areas like veg beds, where you can lay it flat. I've made up some 4ft squares of clematis net so I can quickly put them over any of my raised veg beds, weighing the edges down with stones. It's worked so far...
Good tip Liriodendron. I think I will start making...
