Also had a bit of fisticuffs yesterday with RSPB website but eventually we were OK and it accepted my results.
Fairygirl, I would love to have given my results last year of not ONE but TWO wrens...but sadly not on the day. I rather shot myself in the foot this year...I wanted to register the parakeets which are new to my bird feeder so put bananas out. I just got 3 squirrels who fought a lot and chased the birds off.
I did register foxes (which my small cat is happy with in the garden).
Chicky, I found magpies on the main list & registered mine ok. Envy you seeing the siskins...... Luckily for the foxes none were making an appearance, otherwise my OH would have been out with his gun, we've had several incidences of "daytime" foxes taking poultry, we think they are dumped urban foxes. Only this morning we had to help our very distressed elderly neighbour and despatch 6 of her chickens that a fox had left half dead. She lost 14 in total
Electric fencing is the only way to keep them out, MW. Perhaps you could advise your neighbour and that will give her peace of mind. Part and parcel of rural living, of course, but they're a bl***y nuisance in urban areas where some misguided people keep feeding them. They're not domestic 'pets' but sadly, some people think they are, or can be.
No doubt that'll get the arguments started
I used to have regular visits from siskins in the garden round the corner, but them, we used to have loads of chaffinches and greenfinches too. Siskins are lovely little things
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Chicky had mentioned having a couple in her garden aym.
We had them regularly round the corner. Eldest daughter always loved them. I probably have a photo somewhere, but it was pre digital cameras so it'll be in a pack of photos in a box!

I don't suppose they landed in your garden, which is what the survey records, or did they? You certainly must have a wonderful garden to have kingfishers and egrets in it. Very envious here
I think we have to remember that the Birdwatch isn't the only bird recording that goes on through the year. It's a very specific piece of research. enabling comparison of areas over the years.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Red kite, kingfisher, little egret and a grey wagtail, typed them in but just deleted.
does make you wonder about the value of the survey.
Red kites have only been seen in this area of north Essex in the past 6 months, would have thought they would want to know.
You can inform them about the kites by email.
