I spent years in my 30s going to a gym 2 or 3 times a week after dislocating a hip on a skiing holiday and needing to build up muscles to hold them together. Ended up loving it and being very fit. Then we moved to Belgium.......
Now in mid 60s with arthritic bits and back problems so these days my gym is the garden and walking dogs and housework and decorating plus dancing. Moving house and countries means I'll have loads more time to be outside with the dogs or in the garden and the weather to enjoy it.
Ballroom, slasa or line dancing are much more fun than zumba IMHO and work your memory and sociability too so good for Alzheimer prevention too.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

It's Sgurr Eilde Mor (the most easterly of the Mamores) doc - I was there in October. Beautiful day and views to die for. There are pix on the Camera thread.
That view is from the ledge on the approach to the summit, and looking west-ish to the Ballachulish horseshoe and the back end of the Glencoe hills. The summit of Na Gruagaichean is peeking over the ridge to Binnein Mor.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thank you doc. I fully intend to keep doing them for as long as I can.
It's one of the finest days I've ever had, although I decided not to carry on to Binnein Beag which it's often teamed with. I have to be careful with the dodgy knees so I'll need quite a few outings to complete all The Mamores. They're - quite rightly - among the finest hillwalks anywhere.

I hope you get to enjoy them for years to come too Fairy. Those hills and views are good for the soul and I miss my regular fix in the Lake District.
Can't do fells and hills any more as I have dodgy hips and knees as well as new feet but I can do gentle slopes and country lanes and beaches and that suits the doggies too.

My 'gym' is the finest on earth Aunty Rach...when it's a glorious day like that was anyway. Not quite so fine when it's wall to wall clag....
Still a million times better than a conventional gym though

Which hill is that Fairy?

Not a hill I know fairy.
Know and love the Ballachulish horseshoe and have been lucky enough to climb many of the Glencoe hills.
It is a great picture and sums up the true beauty of the Scottish hills. Long may you continue to climb them.

Hi all
We all have our own version of the gym and whatever suits everyone
However mine is free, healthy, rewarding and a great place to make new contacts and friends
It is also open every day whatever the weather or season of year doing little and often inside or out
Happy gardening for 2017
