I'm not finding fault, merely making an observation. Millions love it and I'm happy for them. I don't think liking it( or any other programme for that matter ), or not liking it makes one a better, or worse person.
No punkdoc, I haven't read the book. I came across an advert for the movie by accident whilst channel hopping and set a remind and record for it (I often nod off halfway through the 9pm films).
Not needed in this case. The story had me captivated for it's entirety.
After watching I went online to find out more about this story and it's author, Emma Donoghue. The general consensus seems to be positive about the adaptation, Donoghue wrote the screenplay herself rather than hand it over. Changes were made to the storyline which are outlined in this link...

Haven't watched call the midwife yet, it should be good. Didn't bother with top gear, to much like the other 3.
I know lots of you love CTM so I gave it another bash last night. Not for me I have to say.
I did enjoy the last episode of Karma Hospital and even managed to stay awake until the end.
I also found the "received pronunciation " rather grating.

Must try to remember to watch my old chum Ben Cooper on Bargain Hunt later. I keep forgetting to watch and I've never seen an episode with him in it.
Here you are Hosta - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-4188918/People-going-potty-new-TV-contestant.html Don't you like the accents on CTM, Hosta? I have an accent rather like that.
I watched 2 episodes of Karma Hospital last night, love it.
it's not the accent per sé, they just sound so false coming from those actors. I'm sure they could have found actors who speak like that normally.
BL, I tried to read the article, but was waylaid ( ooh erh missus ) by Ryan.
I think Hosta is talking about the residents, not the nurses Liz. They try to put on the cockney accent, they sometimes just don't get it right.
its a bit like the 'country' accent, does anywhere from Norfolk to Cornwall.

Although some book to film adaptations can be disappointing, this one seems to be a success.
I found it a thought provoking and uplifting film, despite the disturbing subject matter.
