I love his work ( but I have no telly). I often think that people like that must have been considered absolute fruitcakes in their day. Like the Mackintoshes. Now, in hindsight, we can call them visionaries.

When the television was first introduced into America the president at the time thought it was a ridiculous idea because "Americans won't have time to sit down and watch it".
Now it is all consuming and instead of fitting viewing in around life, life gets fitted in around viewing.
Couldn't watch daytime tv, all quiz shows, cookery or chat shows, ?
Never put it on before 7.30 and rarely watch anything on BBC or ITV which is still also cookery and quiz shows
if we couldn't have Sky, we wouldn't have a television either.
Just found a nice movie Chanel, playing all 40's and 50's films, so enjoying that at the moment. You do have to pick them out though, isn't it funny how what we loved back then seems like rubbish now?
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Lyn, yes i agree. We don't have Sky, only freeview. Most of the time just watch BBC. Do watch a bit on Channel 4. The Super Vet and Jamie Oliver. If there's anything in the day,i'll record it to watch later.

Not for me.
I prefer to have a telly and choose whether I watch it or not. I don't watch a lot in the summer.
we never have the TV on before 7ish when it's on whilst Hubby prepares dinner and we're normally in bed by the end of the 10 o'clock news.
Daytime tv is for the hard of thinking IMHO.
