Can anyone tell me what my tree is

imageimageimagedoes anyone know what my tree is called, it has dropped a lot of its leaves now but has flowered. I was told it's a jacaranda but I'm not sure if that's right . Please help as I'm not sure if I'm looking after it correctly. I bring it indoors for the winter

Hi waterworth. It is an Albizia - one of the mimosa family.

    I don't think it is a Jacaranda.

I have seen them in S. Africa and they all had purple flowers, which did not look like that.

Sadly I don't know what it is.

I think both flowers and foliage are wrong for an albizia.   There are lots round here in gardens in the Vendée, including mine.

The foliage looks more like acacia dealbata which we also have in teh gharden but the flowers are wrong tho yours may be a variety.   Have a look here and see what you think - https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/24107/Acacia-dealbata/Details  I wouldn't have thought it suitable for a houseplant.

Whatever yours is it looks to me like it needs a prune to remove dead wood and a good feed.

Albizia julibrissin is my nearest guess.

That is pretty but the flowers are wrong for the OP's plant which look more like they belong on a bottle brush plant.  This is our albizzia in August and its flowers are definitely pink.

That is a beauty Obelixx. I was only having a guess and there is a cream version of the Albizia and they are all in the mimosa family like Acacia so similarities do exist. It would be good to know for definite what the OP's tree is.

Would be interesting to know if the OP is satisfied with my Albizia amara suggestion.image

There are many beautiful blue Jacarandas in Sydney and it is said that they were planted when a baby was born.  Whether it is true or not is immaterial; they are lovely.
