Recognise this shrub?
Does any one recognise this shrub?
I took this photo a couple of weeks ago in Hyde Park. I am interested in adding some Autumn / Winter flowering plants to my garden.
Any help would be much appreciated

?Salvia?
it was large - about 1.5-2 metres
possibly salvia amistad - but mine are about 7ft high
If so, not completely hardy in the uk, but mine usually survive a mild winter in the ground

Looks like that's the one. Thank you both!
Will visit the border again next month to see what happens to it in winter.

Lovely plant. Mine got to all of 2 inches high. Slug festival food!
It's not really a winter flowering plant - it blooms from mid summer until late autumn. As has been said they're not reliably winter-hardy in the UK and it's a good idea to take cuttings each year and keep them in a greenhouse to plant out the following spring.

aym - I checked first before posting
I've never seen so many different looking fungi as this year.
Been so dry for so long, then a drop of rain and it's gone fungus mad!
My amistad has been in the ground for the last 2 winters with no problem, as we've had no frost, but I'll bring it in soon as it's supposed to be a dry/cold winter this year
