Apologies Alan - I missed your reply. I'm not sure I'd buy a suitable camera - too many to take on a hill! Nice to have for getting those effects closer to home though - really like that. Got out yesterday - terrific day for it, not too hot but brigth and sunny. Stuchd an Lochan in Glen Lyon - a hill I've done many times [and love] and great for testing out my dodgy arm without having any technical issues! On the way up to the shoulder, you get the views opening up. Some of the Lawers hills - they'd had a little fresh sprinkle of snow, but that had melted by later in the day The hard work done, the open section before the plateau leading to the summit, and the first proper views of it. A nice little 'face' rock The pipits and wheatears were very busy, and this little one posed for long enough to let me get a pic. I think he knew he had a good backdrop of Ben More and Stob Binnein at Crianlarich behind him Lovely Lochan nan Cat en route to the summit 'cone'. I stopped here on the way back to do my exercises The Glencoe hills [centre] across Rannoch Moor and the Nevis hills, Mamores Grey Corries etc, a little further north
Pano of the view west, with the western end of Loch an Diamh on the right. The walk starts at the eastern end of the loch A lovely day out with hardly any need for a jacket - apart from when I laid down to do my exercises!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Thanks scroggin. It couldn't have been a better day. Any hotter and it would have been much tougher on the first bit - steep from the reservoir till you get to the first shoulder. Almost wind free at the summit too. Really grand Have you done any of the hills in the Glen Lyon area ? That one would certainly be a nice one for you for a short day [ 4 - 4 and a half hours] and Glen Lyon is so pretty in itself. All the Lawers hills there too.

Joyce - I think Cleve West could incorporate a few of those in his designs! I was trying to get it with just the sky behind, but it was on an angle and the lower I went, the less you saw the face. Lovely peaceful day, although quite a few folk out.
I love Glen Lyon too - no red squirrels in evidence, but you see them more at the eastern end. I cut over the road past Lawers, although I contemplated going the long way round as it's so pretty. Adds another half hour at least though, and it's long enough! Loads of little fluffy clean lambs around looking very cute with their cheeky black faces. Some looked very 'fresh'. Always nice to see. All the ones along Loch Lomond were lying down in the early evening sun - worn out with the effort of being babies Lots of Hielan' coo youngsters too.

Cheers Liri - glad you enjoyed them The views on a good day like that are great. 360 degrees of Munros Lochan nan Cat is really lovely, and yes, it is quite circular. It's tucked away so you don't really see it till quite late on in the walk, although you can see an edge of it from a bit lower down.

Someone will be coveting that "face" rock
