Beautiful verdun! I've just been exploring Ashwood Nurseries website, never realised there were so many varieties of salvias, I will be visiting that site again in the spring. While I was searching for info on all the salvias mentioned in the thread, I came across an article written by Sara Raven last year in the Telegraph, she created some new rose beds and underplanted with salvias and the roses were more disease free than usual, especially as she is organic and doesn't use any pest control sprays. So another good reason to have salvias in your garden.
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.
Some good suggestions there and lovely photos! I think I'm leaning towards Embers wish so I may get that for next year!
So how do you keep Salvias flowering all season? Do you cut back to the ground after flowering for a second flush or do you just keep deadheading the flower spikes?

Salvia Blauhugel flowers all summer, bees love it, but it may not be tall enough for you.

Any feedback on salvia may night? Does it have a long flowering time?
Disagree with Verdun, it is a lovely plant, well worth growing.
