Your front garden looks epic, Newb, I'm sure it get's a lot of admiring glances.
You obviously enjoy squeezing the maximum interest from it during spring and summer/autumn, I would just suggest introducing some evergreen backbone such as very low, clipped box hedging; or perhaps rows of Hart's Tongue Fern to line the paths and egde the planting. They would set off your summer displays as well as giving a smart green look in winter. Both very tough. A bit dull? Maybe but great anchor plants.
Grasses - I love my Luzula nivea, sprays of snow white flowers in spring that last all summer, albeit gradually turning biscuit coloured.
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
Thinking about it again. This is the overall look of front of house. All trees and overgrown shrubs are definitely going away.
Shall I plant grass in the center as rectangle and put plants around it and create a new bed along driveway fence? May be a patch of lawn in middle will brighten up the place in winter...
I do like roses and they have nice fragrance too. Though i agree they look bare in winter and might be too tall for this place. I will plant all my austins to back garden.
I think i will stick with idea of fragrant shrubs, interesting foliage plants, bulbs and some bright annual/perennials.
Newb: By the look of your garden, you don't really need advice. Just keep your eyes open and ears peeled.. I am sure you will pick up ideas very quickly.

I am thinking of removing those paving stones making the center rectangle. Then it would be like 14ftx20ft rectangular lawn.
