Fairy, we saw a Golden Eagle on Skye - it was a glorious June day after five days of torrential wind and rain and I think he had a hungry family to feed. We also went to the Outer Hebrides and saw a corn crake - a real once in a lifetime sighting. image Unlikely to  get those on our bird table

Great photos Johnnycanoe - good to see birds from 'over there' :-)

2 robins who stayed close to me when I was planting our new dwarf fruit trees, blue titsm great tits, long tailed tits, sparrow and a wren, we've 5 feeders up, 1 sunflower  harts, 1 niger seeds, 2 mixed feed and fat balls, we haven't as many birds as I'd like or expect, I never really tidy up and leave piles of big twigs, I wonder if it's because there are lots of cats around, who I always chase off if I see them!

We're getting more and more birds as the shrubs we've planted are growing - the birds seem to feel more secure if they've got cover nearby.

When I was making the coffee earlier there were at least 8 goldfinches on the feeders, plus the usual bluetits gt tits, blackbirds, robins etc

WE then get the red bishops the male is red until about the end of feb and then goes brown they like to be near the dam and built on the reeds. our wagtails built a nest on my fresh air plant and we got 4 babies last yr they got eaten so this yr  we were luckly. we also get the pigeins ,i will try and get a photo of them on the birdfeeder.Johnnie i loved your bird photos and if you can send some snow to us in south africa i will send the sun and hot weather

There are lots of birds in my area! Saw some lovely birds this morning as I headed out. I got a fair few in my garden in the summer, but now it's winter and I bought a load of bird feeders of different sorts, none are in my garden! I think that as it was a new garden last year I only had annuals, and now they are all gone my garden is too bare for any birds to feel safe in there. I've bought a bunch of bare roots that she currently in a pot waiting to hopefully be planted up next week! Next year hopefully I'll get them in my garden!

Love starlings, beautiful and intelligent birds and very much on the decline across Britain. We nearly got one feeding from our hand last summer image

I have to confess to shooing them away from our feeders. They bully smaller birds out of the way.

We used to have lots of starlings but haven't seen any for a couple of years or more.

We don't get them here either, Joyce.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
