We didn't this time - there were quite a few family groups with little ones, so we left it to them and just watched while we had our ice cream - we had several goes on the gallopers at Thursford just a few days ago.

Superb photos of a beautiful garden, I think the Blooms were the first with the island beds which many of us copied. Thanks for taking time to post the pictures.
My pleasure Richard - I've been lucky to have lived not too far from Bressingham for most of my life and have watched the gardens develop and go through several phases over the years. They really are looking very good at the moment
Lantana - the label by that plant says Fascicularia Bicolour - it's a bromeliad - think someone suggested it for someone's garden the other day ... can't think who it was but it was to replace a Clematis 'Avalanche' that wasn't happy in a sunny spot surrounded by paving ..........
Bressingham Nursery only sell to the trade online - the garden centre there was taken over by Wyevale when Alan Bloom died - but I couldn't come away without a plant could I? Would've been letting the side down a bit, wot?
My Rudbeckia 'Goldsturm' in the new Sunny Bed is looking fantastic at the moment (next to Aster 'Little Carlow') so I couldn't resist a slightly smaller version Rudbeckia 'Little Gold Star' to carry that wonderful golden glow nearer to the front of the bed.

Lovely photos Dove. No wonder you like visiting that garden.
Sorry to put a dampener on it, but I can't stand grasses. I think it must be a snake thing, gives me the creeps every time I see grasses planted in lovely borders. Each to his own, as the saying goes.
Part - I understand. Fortunately snakes aren't a problem here. We only have three, and one, the Smooth snake is harmless and extremely rare. The more common ones are the harmless Grass Snake ( which I have seen in that garden and in my own) and the adder or viper which, although it has a venomous bite prefers to keep away from humans - it is most often seen in dry areas on sunny days when it likes to sunbathe in the open. Occasionally you hear of a dog being bitten, often because they've been curious and gone and sniffed at them , but people are rarely harmed.

Looks like you had a gorgeous day. I wish my garden looked as good, instead of leaning at all angles. Did you go on the gallopers?
