    @Yviestevie

    Thanks for this advice. I will take a look on that website for some good varieties and plant in bunches around the garden...

    The dying foliage is a good point to keep in mind and also the tip about planting in plastic pots!

    Lovely garden you have there pokhim.

    I agree with what Yvie's saying too  - I put bulbs in plastic pots and swap them inside nice pots for display. The advantage of pots is that you can cram them in. I personally don't care for the layering thing - I use one colour of one type of bulb in one pot. That way, I can get a good display and when it's done, I can take it away and put something else in it's place.

    Always pick the varieties you want rather than mixes. They're fine if you have a bit of woodand or something similar, but in areas where you want a good display, choose carefully. Bear in mind your own conditions too - when they say 'flowers in June' that can be several weeks later up here, so work out flowering times according to your own area and climate, so that you can link everything together and have a succession of flowers.

    There are lots of good online suppliers, so you don't have to rely on what's available locally either. Peter Nyssen and Gee Tee bulbs are the two I use. image

    I had a load of (mainly) daffs and crocus from them a couple of years ago. I had ordered some anemones (Blanda I think) which turned out to be red, but apart from that, they were all good.

    I'm waiting for various alliums and species tulips to arrive - hopefully soon.
