If you're determined to get rid of the worms there is a treatment call Castclear which apparently doesn't harm the worms but they don't like the effect it has on the surface of the soil so they go elsewhere.
A while ago on Gardeners World they visited a guy who had bowling green style lawns. He used a device which looked like a broom handle with a long, flexible rod at the end. He simply swept that back and forth to remove the casts. His were probably the best lawns I've seen in years, so it clearly worked.
I've seen green keepers use those on the greens at my golf club first thing in the morning, it clears off the dew as well making it a bit easier to put the the ball, hopefully into the hole!
Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.

I'm quite happy with my worms, they don't do any long term damage and only pop up in autumn anyway. We need worms not chemicals.
