Paint colour for this wall?

Hi, can anyone please suggest a colour(s) for the wall to the left of the patio? It has never been painted and I would like to brighten it up but with colours suitable to the rest of the patio.

Thanks

  • You mean the low concrete-type wall?

I would pick out one of the colours in that wonderful stone wall - there are ochres in there, mossy and licheny greens, blues, creams, sand and purple and some reddish tones.

Have a look here  and match up just one of them to enhance the low wall and link it to that wonderful stone.

Whew, for a second I thought you were planning on painting that wonderful stone wall.

    Silly old me.

It also depends on the effect you want to achieve. Looking at the space, I feel you might want a bright colour. I'd personally have soft creams or greens, but that's just me  image

I'd make a screen in a toning colour to hide the oil tank first....image

A couple of small uplighters on that lovely wall would be nice at night. image

  • Silly old you Hosta??? I clean fainted! I wondered why anyone would want to paint that natural stone. image I'll see you in the dopey corner.

Now that I've recovered (and noticed the little wall) I'd go soft pale mossy greens to bring the heathery shades out in the stone. It's my favourite combo and everything goes with green. Ever see a flower that didn't suit it's leaves? image

I'd go with mossy or lichen type greens too.   Then the other colours in teh lovely stone wall will show up better.

Agree about some subtle lights for that back wall and also screening those tanks.

Thank you for all the replies :-) Yes I can confirm that it is the small wall on the left which I am painting! I love those ideas, especially screening the tank, lighting and shade of green. Thanks again, I will upload my results

Is it the whole area that is your space Gal2, or just the bit we can see on the right of the low wall? I meant to ask that as it wasn't terribly clear.

You might want to consider something along the top of the wall for screening too,  if the bit on the  other side isn't yours  image

  • Blue is great in places where there's good reflected light, like at the seaside - the quality of light is so much more intense because of the reflected light from the sea (hence artists' colonies at seaside places and the use of so much blue/turquoise at the seaside, and why any blue works so well with white) , but without the intense light it needs to look at it's best, blue can look very dull.
