Mine seems to be thinning out and dropping quite a few brown leaves since end of August, which is far earlier than previous years. I guess it must be because of the high temperatures and dryness although I've recently been watering.
I think you are right FG, I'm probably too late! Some downfalls of rain today but it's probably been one of the driest July & August that I can remember for a while here in SE.

I think once they get dry, it can be quite hard to rehydrate them successfully Mark. Some will fare better than others too.
They live happily on the edges of burns up here, so they're permanently damp. Happier with wet rather than dry conditions.

Probably not so easy for you to keep it happy down there Mark.
A good mulch in spring will help, after it gets some winter rain.
