Not a bad day , not as good as yesterday - Lincoln image

  • I will be spending a few hours shoveling snow again today, and only my backyard birds will get fed. Just had a look in my greenhouse to make sure the heaters are running.

Johnny , how long do you have to keep the greenhouse heaters running for ?

Are the g/h specially insulated ? Just being nosey

We in Lincoln have had no snow again so far , still time but I doubt it

  • Misty, grey and damp, so no gardening for me - however it is mild, so that is consolation. Spent part of the day making a garden themed jigsaw, 1,000 pieces.

  • Hello GWRS,

I have run out of room on my plant racks in the house, that's why I have the heaters on in my greenhouse and my larger plants set out there. The heaters shut off when the temp reaches 18C. So yesterday when I got home from feeding birds at the fish hatchery, the heaters were off and it was so hot in the GH I had to open a window. It was -15C outside but my GH is in direct sun. Today, no sun so the heaters are constantly running.  Thing is our last frost date for here is June 1, so I have to resort to using heaters at night for a few months anyways.

Stockton has sunshine (I could get used to this) clear sky with a wisp of cloud above although quite a thick line over the coast. I can see the Cleveland Hills in all their glory, Eston Nab ten miles away over the valley is in view, if I walked up the lane a few hundred yards the Pennine foothills over the Dales would most likely also be in view, is this Spring at last?

    Frank.

Sun and blue skies......that's nearly a week of continuous good weather if we discount the chilly wind some days.
