We used to have one of those HUGE cacti, like you see in the cowboy films, Sister-in-laws Father grew it from a seed, it was about 8 feet high, he gave it to us, because he had no-where to keep it, we had it in a conservatory, outside in the summer, it flowered for the first time, (at night) the flowers were gorgeous like yellow peonies, they only last one day, it never flowered with him, only the once with us, and sadly died.

If you have small children visiting your garden the usual advice is to snip the tips off the yucca leaves and fix a grid over the pond.

Mild and overcast here. Think rains on it's way.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

Not in a singing mood today so no "oo ah's" for Verdun as yesterday. Stockton is dull dour and dark, the three dreadful "D's", one nice thing today my Granddaughter is coming down from Newcastle to see me that brightens everything up.

    Frank.

Wet and chilly here in Manchester, should dry up by lunchtime according to BBC weather. Glad I got the grass cut yesterday afternoon image
