The wind has got up to force 6 now, but at least it has been dry for a few hours after a very heavy shower of rain/hail this morning. The soil is still too heavy to dig due to the amount of rain that has fallen this month.
Stockton on Tees 4C dull with no sun forecast today we will see.
Hannah Hauxwell the tough Dales woman made famous on TV living alone no running water or electric died this week age 91. In my job I visited some of those out of the way farms in Teasdale and she was not the only lone woman, one farm was a full mile from any road just tracks. Hannah later moved into the village so her last years were more comfortable. In memory of all those tough Dales Ladies.
Bright but very windy quite cold -for here. I am well aware other parts of the country are suffering more extremes than we are.
Frank- I remember those programmes about Hanna Hauxwell, I think I recall that when she moved off the farm several of the fields were declared SSI as there were rare orchids & wild flowers on them. She & her Father before her had used no chemicals and had farmed sustainably for decades.
