oh what is the difference between mouse and rat? i have many squirrels and since they only live outdoor its ok.

i dont mind rat/mouse roaming around in garden but i really dont want it to get inside garage or loft! i have a very messy garage and huge loft which i dont want to search or clean up. thanks everyone, i will get a trap soon will make sure i check regularly.

Rats are twice the size of mice and often can be bigger. I mistook one in the dusk thinking it was a rabbit - then I saw the tail!.

  • You could get a cat

If you can put up with the odd live one being brought in, they generally help to keep them in order.

And they're cute gardening companions too (cats that is)...

I only realised we had mice in my garden shed whan I noticed there was a nest with a chewed up tea towel in the corner and they had been at the wild bird seeds. Now inside A sealed tub.

Then I noticed that the B*****s had chewed their way up though the floor of my potting shed.

We set up mouse traps and  caught about 10 over about three weeks. It is time we had another go and set the traps again.

  • Hi, I found a little mouse in my garden and I'm worried sick incase it causes damage to my apartment. So I cleaned the garden up and put new soil over the parts where the bird seed has fell. And now use garden planters to catch the seed. Is there anything else I can do? I don't want to kill a living animal.

Talk to your landlord about pest control. Rats, mice and squirrels etc can do a lot of damage to property  and the droppings of rodents can spread a lot of serious disease. Mice pee all over the place as they run about your house.

They chew  through electric cables, as my son found out when he found an electrocuted rat had shorted out his kitchen boiler. Damaged wiring can cause fires. The odd mouse is one thing but you should do anything  keep them out of your property.

  • To successfully  catch mice my technique  honed over a few years is based on standard spring mousetrap, large raisin  smeared with Nutella and then twine tied around the raisin so the mice can't prise it off. Caught 13 mice last winter in my garage and they haven't returned this year.

I had them infesting  my garage and with young family don't really want vermin around..

  • Suffice to say the mice  weren't wasted  ...they fed my neighbours pet   corn snake....
