mouse/rat in the garden
I saw a mouse in the garden- a little glimpse of it. I think it has chewed my shoes, and dug up many plant pots. Then neighbour said he has also seen it in his garden and thinks that it has been eating his tomatoes and we should team up to get rid of it.
Any advice what should we do to get rid of this mouse.

Where there is one there are more. You can get humane traps and then take the mice some distance from your house and release them.
Any suggestions for which trap to get.
The most expensive are the Longworth traps which I used extensively on field courses but I went for cheaper plastic options bought - as - philippa said at my local GC, which I use at home. They also like chocolate but no contest! So do I!
As Pansyface says, it's all too easy to cause unnecessary suffering (this breaking the law) when using 'humane' traps.

Drat! I knew I'd said too much
Only illegal to trap and release a black rat, all other rodents are fine to release without breaking any laws
I just leave the mice in my garden, though they don't really seem to do any harm, just eat the hedgehog food now and then! All part of the food chain, and the local sparrowhawk likes a mice snack now and then, and saw a stoat carrying one off once! As long as they're outside and can't get in your house, they're not too bad really, kinda cute too
It is also not illegal to trap grey squirrels but it is illegal to let them go. My cat brings mice back alive (present for me), I trap them in the humane traps and release them back into the garden when she isn't looking. Done that for years. As I live next door but one to a livery stable I expect there to be loads of mice and rats around and as long as they stay outside the house I am not bothered.
I thought I wrote that pf
