  • Thanks very much all. Really appreciate your time and views. I'll give them a chop when I'm back from work. Looking forward to it!

    I would advise to NOT plant a laurel hedge at all! IMHO laurel hedges look out of place in any landscape, plus they get hard to control as they get older. There is such a wide choice of nicer hedge plants to choose from!

  • Ok given them

    a bit of a chop....

    Papi Jo - fair enough. I like em Myself. ill send pics when fully formed. They are mixed with Portuguese laurels.

    Dovefromab will probably tell me to trim even more back?

    cheers guys!

    @NedFlanders,

    Portugal Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) is fine with me. Much more gracious than the common cherry laurel (Prunus laurocerasus) which I dislike.

    See this thread: http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/talkback/shrubs-and-trees/720637.html

  • Thanks Verdun. How much more? It is about 1m tall and I've trimmed the sides...

    Papa Jo - it seems it is more hated than liked around all the blogs and articles I've read. For me it's a matter of quick growth and density and light reflection. I can get all these things with the cherry laurel. Just need to maintain it.

    Thanks again guys

  • Haha okally dokali nighbourino!
