Ouch! I fell foul of the garden bargain hunt today I think, I'm pretty embarrassed.
I saw £2.50 reduced, Sweet William, Sweet Black Cherry.
When I got home, realised that this is an annual and is about finished.
Or is it? Research suggested it was an evergreen but I doubt this.
Anyone had this in their garden? Wondering if I let it run to seed to self-seed and come back the year after next (if it is a biennial). I can't get a proper grip on what it is from Google so user experience feedback is welcomed.
Thanks for the haggling tip V. I am working with a builder on a landscaping project and need some plants, particularly hedging. Went to my local Wyevale today and asked for the best price if I bought all the native mixed hedging they had (not the dreaded 'L') ........short story is I bought it for 70% off which was about the same as buying bare rooted in the winter and they are bigger. Good deal so I am quite pleased.
But I also succumbed to £10 for a 6' olive tree....which is for myself.
Most of the things that were there two weeks ago have gone though still a lot of clematis'. One of the workers said most of the shrubs will be reduced at the end of the month. Fruit trees were reduced by 50% but they are quite expensive still, IMO.
Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
Thanks Joyce, it's in a sheltered spot and more sunny than I thought it was so I'm hopeful that I'll see it again. Would love to because it's lovely and suits the spot. <fingers crossed>
Back from Cornwall now Verdun. Alas, didn't make it to Par Wyevale. Went down for family members 60th birthday party/ barbecue and ended up doing most of the catering with the birthday girls daughter as she was struggling by herself. Didn't get a chance to pop in and practice my haggling skills. I was given a lovely selection of plants from birthday girls garden though as a thank you though. 2 agapanthus Black Budda, geum Lady Strathsummit, a burgundy astrantia, some candlestick primulas and an orange daisy thingy.

Cloggie, I have some Sweet William in their fifth year so don't despair.

This is the olive tree I bought for £10
.
Made it to the Shenstone and Aldridge Wyevales. Shenstone, typically, was being very stingy on the reductions. Only got this:
Heucherella Alabama Sunrise for £4
Aldridge, however, continues to provide some nice deals, so I picked up:
Oxalis reduced to £1 (picked up some for my mum too, as a gift, played knock and run and left them on her doorstep!).
4 Cyclamen at half price:
Three pairs of gardening gloves for £2.49
One of the local independent garden centres (which also uses the nursery down the road as a pla supplier) also had these:
So I picked one up as it was on my 'wish list'.
Quite pleased with my little trip out!
