Getting disillusioned with my greenhouse
Hi... Any tips and advice would be very welcome.. I've had my greenhouse for 3 years now.. Ist year was fantastic, this year a disaster.. slugs and white fly.. I cleaned and disinfected my greenhouse from top to bottom before I started any seedlings off. From experience can you just have a bad year or am I doing something wrong?

You are not doing anything wrong. We are just having a freaky year.
This is the first year I have found slugs hiding in the greenhouse frame. It is a freaky year.
You could try covering with horticultural fleese, tuck it under the trays so they can't get in,i use it all the time.
I am so happy. Because I Iive in Brazil and don't need one. Naanananaah!
Seriously though, I feel for you. I battled for years to keep a greenhouse pest and disease free in UK and know how difficult it is. Do you know what I would do? Close it down this winter. Don't try and overwinter anything. Get a blowtorch and exzapimate anything left alive in there! Then in spring get some lovely semi-hardy plants, stick them in there and watch them zoom. You will feel a whole lot better.
Good luck,
Ian.
hi liseals as the others say a v/freaky year and weather all over the place the seasons all to pot thing I do every year I use my pressure spray that you have on your back and pump up kills almost all bugs but you can only get so much and slugs seem to get away but I still spray ground and under boards . only thing I can say is keep trying good luck Michael
Does Verdun ever agree with anybody? Soon they'll start arguing with statements they've made in their own previous posts!
Best to check for slugs & snails in the greenhouse at night by torchlight. I find the quickest thing is to squash the snails and drop the slugs into a jamjar (with lid) of water to drown.
