I was really interested in the piece on GW last night, he seemed like a huge inspiration to so many. I was only a child when he passed, so never saw his programmes, but would love to see some re-runs.
I remember he planted a box hedge from cuttings from one plant. It inspired me to do the same. I still have my box hedge after all these years - all taken from cuttings from the one plant like he showed us. Inspiring indeed. Loved the way he could save money. Remember the little courtyard he did in one of the small gardens using tiles and clay pipes and stones etc, ?
'Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement' - Helen Keller
Does anyone remember the thing with the terracotta pots - he made a circular feature with them. Started with a big one and put another inside it and so on down to a tiny one in the centre, with sand in between each one. Like Russian dolls..
That might have been the courtyard you mention hogweed
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I remember using his Tufa mix to cover some old Belfast sinks I had and using one small cardboard box inside a larger cardboard box made the troughs. He was just the best!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I never really saw Geoff, other than the few clips that are on Youtube, but I've heard nothing but good things. After numerous comments across the internet last week, I emailed UKTV ([email protected]). As they seem to hold the rights to historic BBC programmes, I've asked whether they can re-run old episodes of GW with Geoff. I've had a response advising they will put the suggestion forward, but I was thinking the more people suggest it, the more chance it will happen.

I did the troughs as well. Still have one which has lasted for years,
Ah - you're right M-Up. I think I may have had those (Cottage Garden series) on video - back in the olden days ..
I remember the rocks too. Great ideas that anyone could achieve with a little bit of practice. In fact - I may resurrect them in his honour!
