Grasses

B3B3 Posts: 27,505

I planted several grasses in a patch last year. I assumed I'd lose a few but I didn't and they're all growing much quicker than I expected.

Anyway, I need to move some of them to the back  and maybe the lower slower ones closer to the front.

When is the best time to do it?

Mot grasses are best moved in Spring.

    That makes sense PD.image

Should I do it before they start into growth?

    Just as they start growing.

I'll move the worst culprits when we have a bit of rain to soften the clay.  I'm really hooked on grasses now . I'm sure I'll make a few more errors! Once I see what they do in my garden, I'll  divide some of them and dot them around the garden

It would've been lovely if it hadn't been hammered by the rain. Don't diss my Stipa!

I'd love to get some grasses going and I'm hoping to receive a little parcel in the post next week. I think I'll start with mid height ones and see how they stand up here.

I commented on your fluffy Pennisetum villosum on another thread Verdun. There's another similar one but of course I can't remember what it's called. Luverly!
