Yes, but do you have enough birds to get through three or four hundred slugs a day because I don't . I turned over a paving stone the other day and found a toad enjoying the damp space. He was sharing it with eight slugs, two of which were lying against him. Nobody looked hungry or nervous.
I wish, Kitty. That's just what I pick off my plants in an hour or so on a damp summer night. I'm afraid they go into a strong salt solution. This year I have been gathering them in handfuls, not one at a time!
I have areas of my garden which are a favourite hangout of slugs&snails, I don't count them but I reckon I've never collected more than 50 at a time in my "salty bucket".
I admire your persistence Posy, I couldn't do it every day.
hi posy and above what I do with my snails we have a bus comes past every hour I toss them in road to catch the bus as you say for some reason the crows don't eat the big slugs (only reason I can think to big to eat????? they eat smaller slugs
hi all sorry yes i will load a picture later. having trouble with my camera at mo. been trying all weekend. get it to take picture in focus.. it is rather old one. if not i will draw one and can copy it thru the pc
here u go and also wakeshine here is piccie . sorry not in focus. but this is one mine. this is upside down freesbie and tray.. as long as outer is bigger than inner so they cant stretch over.. the salt sits in between the outer of hte big one and small one
aw Posy . no the birds not eat them . not sure i not ever looked. but this stops them getting out and in yr garden again. as they wont pass it. lot mine disappear. so not sure who eats them. have got frogs in garden. so not sure as dont sit and watch them once in tray ..
