I often come legging it indoors to grab my phone as I've seen something interesting. My husband thinks I'm mad.

@Crazybeelady I've run out the door tonight several times in anticipation of photographing a Small Tortoiseshell.

Spent some time yesterday sitting in the shade on the lawn, with a cold beer, just watching the slope at the back of the garden, which is covered in shrubs etc. Lots of intriguing rustlings, and eventually a little shrew pottered out from under one of the plants. Don’t often see much wildlife as I’m usually moving around doing stuff, but sitting quietly for a while paid off!

Black Throated Diver and young, off the coast near Gruinard. Sorry about the quality, but they were 100 yards away.

  • I have been walking my dog much earlier in the morning to avoid the worst of the heat.
It struck me this morning how delicious the early morning smells at the moment. The elderflower is just going over but the wild roses and honeysuckle are just coming in, plus all of the other wildflowers and trees whose combined scent is just lovely.
It is a good job there are very few other dog walkers about, they would think I was totally mad ambling along with my nose in the air, inhaling deeply!

I am just amazed how close these birds are to me and just determined to feed the chicks. I think they must have taken in over 20 lots already, and I have only been sat here an hour.

Agree about morning smells @Joyce Goldenlily, I am sat between two Buddleia, one is yellow and smells like honey. It seems to attract the bees whilst the other one is covered in enormous butterflies.
