Ideas for shade?
Evening everyone, I was about to buy a Guara lindheimeri today for a really shady corner of my garden as I would like something to lighten it but discovered that Guara need full sun Can anyone suggest something similar? I've bought some ferns and already have foxgloves/fatsia/japanese anemones and a large hellebore argutifolius, but it looks a bit dark so I thought something tall (60-80cm?) with white spires would add some interest and sparkle? Only the anemones are coming into flower now as the foxgloves have gone over so something that is flowering now until late Autumn would be perfect. Many thanks jandh.

How about Astilbe x arendsii Bridal Veil. It will grow in partial to full shade and has the white flower spires you might like.
Thanks nut, I've looked it up and it's lovely. RHS say sun or part shade but at this time of year the corner gets the sun early as it's East facing and then shade after about 11am, do you think the Persicaria will flower well in those conditions?
I should think so, mine doesn't get much sun at all and still flowers. Also doesn't fall over like the tall deep pink one I have,

Hi Ladybird, I don't like Astilbes, I think it's the shape of the flowers, I find them a bit rigid. I'm hoping for tall, narrow spires to echo the foxgloves and more of a pure white rather than a cream. But thank you for your suggestion.
Thanks nut. I'm looking up suppliers online, there seem to be a few, including Beth Chatto, so maybe an order this week
You're welcome
Hope you find what you are looking for.

Not familiar with West Acre nut, I'll take a look.
What about Actea? They used to be called something like cimicifuga . Mine grows in shade and won't flower for a few weeks yet. Dark, feathery leaves and spires of creamy white flowers. Doesn't like to be too dry.
