I had some seeds from the RHS seed distribution, labelled as Rosa filipes. A lot of trees fell down in the old orchard next door, the owner said I could plant anything, but didn't want me to spend any money as he was 80 at the time, and when he's gone.... it's likely to end up as building land. I raised three seedlings and planted them. two were Rosa filipes type, but the third was obviously a cross and has some genes from something else in. I took hard wood cuttings off of the different one, and that is what is up the hawthorn tree. The neighbour is 97 this year. Propagating it is becoming urgent. it's minimal maintenance. I just hack bits off that drop too low and threaten me when I go to the compost heap which is under it. It lasts well in a vase too.
Hello all - your thread came up when I did a google searches for clematis Black Tibet and My Angel. I've not grown clematis for years and really love these two... I can't find them online for love nor money. Richard, might you be willing to send me some cutting material for My Angel? I have a lovely (rooted) 'Milk Chocolate Sambuca' cutting I could send you in return if you like that?

What a lovely rose, good luck with the cuttings, so it is a cross, from seed ?
