Hi all
Having trouble with my cucumbers this year,they won't set fruit, they just die off.So is it too late to sow some more?On the packet it says may at the latest.Thanks

It is probably too late now Logan. Have you had any flowers at all? Have you got a self fertile variety?
Thanks ladybird4, I have a all female variety,i've grown it for 4 years now.I get the flowers and it looks as if they set but just die off and the leaves don't look very good as well.

They do look sad Logan. Only my 2nd year growing cukes so no expert.
I assume you've grown yours in the same way in the previous 4yrs and are confident with your feeding and watering regime.
Could the problem be with the compost? The quality of shop bought can vary year to year, I'm using bog standard grow bag stuff.
My plants are growing much taller than last year but have fewer flowers, more male than female and have had quite a few drop off too. Resorted to giving the one female flower on one a tickle with a paintbrush on Sunday, fingers crossed.
Feels a bit like sods law, they were great last year when I was clueless and now I have a bit of knowledge they're a little disappointing.
I wonder if our widely fluctuating temperatures could have had an effect.

You might still be able to get new plants in a garden centre.
I have three cucumber plants called Jogger. We have had a few mature cucumbers already picked but when we had a week of very little sunshine no new cucumbers matured and some of the small ones turned yellow and died off. It is only my first year of growing them. Have you overwatered the plants Logan?
My second year with cucumbers too and I'm pretty sure its the weather. Definitely too cold and also very humid, I have an unheated greenhouse so kept one plant indoors until yesterday and it is retarded but OK. T'other one looks worse than yours Logan.
Thanks for all the replies,i don't think I've over watered but the conservatory has been damp.I've done the same as last year.I won't buy any,i will leave it to next year.
