Could someone ID this plant. please.
I'm hoping someone can ID this plant from it's large and distinctive leaves. It's about a foot tall at the moment and is growing right nest to some emerging dahlias (overwintered in the ground). The dahlias are only just out of the ground as this is an East-facing back border in the front garden.
The leaves remind me of anemones, which I did have growing in this spot but they died off.

It looks a little poppy like but I'm not too sure.
Thanks, but I know it's definitely not a poppy.
I don't think it's a dahlia. I started thinking aconitum or buttercup family, but then thought maybe mallow family..
Mallow for me too, probably Malva Moschata, the musk mallow, they tend to seed about and the seeds can stay in the soil for a while and then pop up when disturbed. Usuallly pink, can be white, pretty.
maybe Malva moschata or similar

Hi Soulboy
There are different strains of poppy and leaves do differ.I have added a link from google that shows various poppies and their leaves

Hi Jolly G, I knew this plant wasn't a poppy, hence my reply To Ladybird4. I am aware of the variety in the poppy family but I knew from the shape of its leaves that this one wasn't in that family. BTW, your URL didn't work until I shortened it with Tiny URL, and then when I went to the website you have to join Pinterest to be able to view the images, which I'm not interested in doing.
Thanks to everyone who took the trouble to respond. It certainly looks like Malva moschata know that I've checked it out. I'm going to have to move it or pull it as it's to close to the dahlias I mentioned, and they grow very big and bushy.
