Think I'd rather have the weevils Dove!  :D
We don't get too much trouble with them here, but I don't mind losing the odd plant if the grubs survive to eat anything. Most things I grow aren't really troubled by them anyway, apart from heucheras, and they're so easy to propogate that it's not an issue. Big, sturdy plants/shrubs can cope with a bit of adult leaf damage too.

Fire - snail/slug eggs are always like jelly - you'll see a clump of them rather than individual ones too. Bit like frogspawn  :)

Good to know. Thanks. It's always worth checking friends' absolute assurances and internet myths. [Note to self].

Gardening seems so full of dodgy 'facts', perpetuated by people who are absolutely certain. I won't bring up religion.

The 'paeonies not liking being moved' is a favourite that comes up on here quite often  :D
Sometimes it's personal growing conditions that can colour a 'fact', Fire. That's where this forum is so useful. You can usually find a solution because someone else has had the experience and in the same soil/climate/location as your own. it's great   :)

Well, absolutely, Fairy. We grow things in a certain way that works and assume hard and fast rules. That's how wars start.

Gosh I can't believe this post popped up again. Hello everyone. I've been away for months and not done any gardening. But did some today and removed loads of weeds. Need to take pics and start asking questions again. I don't get much time for gardening anymore due to work and commute :-(

I resurrected the thread as I had a mini panic attack about eggs in my clems and was relieved to find they were slow release fertiliser.

It was such a long time ago but it was the same for me! The plants were fine in the end and it was just those fertiliser balls!

I have also picked out the little balls of plant food thinking they were insect eggs.
I would go for vine weevil nematodes particularly for plants in pots.

Vine weevil eggs are barely visible to the naked eye they are so small. I think that what most people think are they, are not.
