  • I think so PP. It's growing all over the garden this year. No idea where it came from but it's pretty.

Charlotte the plants look be coming up uniformly so they are probably from the seeds you planted. Maybe the wrong seeds got into the packet? I would wait and see for a bit longer - it could be something good .

  • Could it be something related to borage?

Faywray, i'm very jealous of that verbascum...

looks like borage to me if we're still talking about the first pic.

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • where i come from we make borage fritters to get rid of the excess seedlings (big like yours). So almost a vegetable ?

Cut the leaves thinly, easy with scissors, then add to finely chopped sauteed onions. salt & pepper (taste as it needs quite a bit of salt). Then add to a thick savoury batter and shallow fry. Perfect for pre-meal nibbles on the patio and a good glass of cold orange wine or pastis... sorry i regress, i haven't been home for several months! I need a good apéro!

  • Thanks all. I bought some parsnip plants today so come saturday it will be goodbye sneaky invader borage/whatever it is plant and hello parsnips :) dissapointed my red sprouts didn't germinate! Dodgy batch maybe!

I hope the parsnips are in really long root trainers because parsnips are almost always sown direct in March and April. plus they don't like being transplanted
